Basketball Recap: Cedar Creek Comes Up Short

Cedar Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They took a blow against the Anderson Trojans, falling 68-27. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1345th, while the Trojans are ranked 465th).

Cedar Creek's loss came despite strong showings from Kaini Mubasher and Mackenzy Roberts. Mubasher went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points, while Roberts posted three points and three steals. That's the most steals Roberts has posted since back in January of 2024.

Leading Anderson to victory were Mya Counter and Brooke Fuller. Counter dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards, while Fuller went 6 for 12 on her way to 17 points and seven steals. Counter has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Mei Space was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Cedar Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 1-22. As for Anderson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-11.

Cedar Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 37-36 loss against Navarro on the 24th. Anderson has also already played their next match, a 61-38 victory against McCallum on the 24th.
