Basketball Recap: Gulf Pointe Latin's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Gulf Pointe Latin unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Santa Rosa Christian, falling 53-32. The Gladiators were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-9.

Gulf Pointe Latin's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rebekah Thompson, who posted 16 points and three steals. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Jacqueline Schnieders was another key player, putting up four points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

Even though they lost, Gulf Pointe Latin smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive games.

Gulf Pointe Latin's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5. As for Santa Rosa Christian, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gulf Pointe Latin will square off against South Baldwin Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Santa Rosa Christian, they will be playing at home against Tate at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
