The Panthers were red-hot offensively headed into the game (they scored no less than 31 points in the five matchups prior) but the Bears' defense proved too tough.
Houston County had a senior duo take command as Antwann Hill Jr threw for 440 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 22.0 yards per attempt and Isaiah Mitchell gained 275 total yards and four touchdowns. Mitchell really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 70 yards. Austin Stinson was in the mix as well, providing Houston County with two touchdowns.
Lakeside moved to 10-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Houston County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.
Lakeside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Houston County, they are on the road again on Friday to play Milton at 7:30 p.m. Milton is coming into the match with seven straight wins at home, so Houston County will have to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
