Preview: Center Roughriders vs. Chapel Hill Bulldogs
Center is 0-3 against Chapel Hill since December of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Center Roughriders will be playing at home against the Chapel Hill Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Center sitting on five straight wins and Chapel Hill on four.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Center ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Carthage 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Center has posted against Carthage since February 2, 2021.
Center's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lanaijha Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Johnson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Gabrielle Whisenant, who scored 16 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Chapel Hill didn't have too much trouble with Carthage at home on Friday as they won 34-18.
Center is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. As for Chapel Hill, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-11.
