Softball Game Preview: Archie Whirlwinds vs. Jasper Eagles

The Archie Whirlwinds will square off against the Jasper Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Archie has given up an average of 9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Archie came up short against Adrian on Tuesday, falling 11-5. The Whirlwinds haven't had much luck with the Blackhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Jasper was able to grind out a solid victory over Midway on Tuesday, taking the game 9-4. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.

Chloe Storm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Crystal Smith was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Addie Atnip, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Jasper was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive games.

Archie now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Jasper, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
