Basketball Recap: St. Francis Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Josh Green and Cameron Nerby

If St. Francis was feeling good fresh off their 71-51 takedown of Kenosha Christian Life last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The St. Francis Mariners came up short against the Brookfield Academy Blue Knights on Tuesday, falling 85-62. The loss continues a trend for the Mariners in their matchups with the Blue Knights: they've now lost six in a row.

Cameron Nerby and Josh Green certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Nerby went 12 for 18 on his way to 27 points and six rebounds, while Green went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points. Nerby's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zamiel Cruz, who posted five points and six rebounds.

St. Francis' defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Brookfield Academy, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

St. Francis will head out to challenge Luther Prep at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Brookfield Academy, they will host Messmer at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
