Softball Recap: Central Valley Warriors vs. Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles
Central Valley had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 16-7 margin over the Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles. The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Golden Eagles, too.
Emma Weaver was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Weaver was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on London Banks, who went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. McKenzie Rizor was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI and one run.
Central Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Keystone Oaks only posted an OBP of .382.
Keystone Oaks now has a losing record of 1-2.
Coming up, Central Valley will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against South Side at 4:00 p.m. on March 26th. As for Keystone Oaks, they will face off against West Mifflin at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
