Softball Recap: Deep Run Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Deep Run's offense. They lost 8-0 to the Godwin Eagles on Friday. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Deep Run saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braelyn Baulsir, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Deep Run's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-4. As for Godwin, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Deep Run will square off against Cosby at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 3.5, the Titans 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Godwin, they will challenge James River Midlothian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rapids have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season.
