Baseball Game Preview: Atherton Ravens vs. Fairdale Bulldogs

The Atherton Ravens will head out to challenge the Fairdale Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Atherton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

Atherton fell victim to Trinity and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Shamrocks. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Ravens' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Fairdale suffered their closest defeat since April 25, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of LKY by a score of 8-6.

Cooper Cummings made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Trey Kelly also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Atherton's loss dropped their record down to 6-6-1. As for Fairdale, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-13.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Atherton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .455. However, it's not like Fairdale struggles in that department as they've averaged .443. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Atherton skirted past Fairdale 8-6 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Ravens since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
