Baseball Game Preview: Galva Wildcats vs. Peoria Heights Patriots

Galva hasn't had much luck against Peoria Heights recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Patriots at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Galva easily dispatched Biggsville West Central on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Wildcats fell just short of Knoxville by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Peoria Heights came up short against Roanoke-Benson/Lowpoint-Washburn on Thursday, falling 18-3.

Cameron Ahart was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Peoria Heights: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-16 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ricky Martin, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

Galva's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Peoria Heights, their defeat was their 12th straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-18.

Galva couldn't quite get it done against Peoria Heights when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 10-6. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
