Softball Game Preview: West Covina Bulldogs vs. Wilson Wildcats

For the second straight game, West Covina will face off against Wilson. The Bulldogs will host the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.

West Covina will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Wilson on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Wildcats 18-6.

Leslie Baustista made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Baustista was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Sophia Adler was incredible, firing off two home runs, nine RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those nine RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Danielle Diaz, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

West Covina always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wilson is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9. As for West Covina, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11-1.
