Soccer Recap: Sam Houston Comes Up Short

Sam Houston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 19th straight defeat. They lost 8-0 to the Lanier Voks. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 853rd, while the Voks are ranked 362nd).

Sam Houston's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Lanier, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sam Houston will venture away from home to face off against Jefferson at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sam Houston has given up an average of 6.3 goals per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Lanier, they will head out to challenge Fox Tech at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Lanier will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more goals each game than the last.
