Basketball Game Preview: Morgantown Mohigans vs. Parkersburg South Patriots

The Morgantown Mohigans will challenge the Parkersburg South Patriots at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.

Morgantown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Spring Valley, who was ranked third at the time (Morgantown was ranked first). Morgantown took a 48-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spring Valley on Saturday. The game marked the Mohigans' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Parkersburg South hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They came out on top against Buckhannon-Upshur by a score of 62-52 on Saturday.

Morgantown's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.9 points over those games. As for Parkersburg South, their win bumped their record up to 6-14.

Everything came up roses for Morgantown against Parkersburg South in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 95-32 victory. Will Morgantown repeat their success, or does Parkersburg South have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
