Baseball Recap: Lutheran Beats Rock Falls for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Lutheran hadn't done well against Rock Falls recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Crusaders walked away with a 6-2 win over the Rockets. The victory was nothing new for the Crusaders as they're now sitting on five straight.

Jake Guse was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Mason Villafuerte was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Luke Carlson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

Lutheran pushed their record up to 9-7 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Rock Falls, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9-1.
