After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Vela, McAllen was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Wolverines back in March, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Eliana Villanueva spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Leah Sorensen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Chloe Mariscal, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

McAllen is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial, they moved to 13-11 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. McAllen is set to square off against their familiar foe Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial will challenge rival Sharyland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
