Recap: Forest Wildcats vs. Lake Minneola Hawks

If The Forest Wildcats were riding high off their 38-14 takedown of the East Ridge Knights last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Forest was dealt a 63-33 loss at the hands of Lake Minneola on Friday. While losing is never fun, Forest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 240th, while Lake Minneola is ranked 75th).

Forest's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Vimel Poole, who rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and Jordan Strickland who gained 145 total yards and three touchdowns.

Dane Thompkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lake Minneola, rushing for 233 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.1 yards per carry. Thompkins is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Hughes, who threw for 374 yards and four touchdowns while completing 74.1% of his passes.

Forest's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Lake Minneola, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Forest will be playing at home against West Port at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Port is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Lake Minneola will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lake Gibson at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
