Softball Game Preview: Lincolnton Wolves vs. Maiden Blue Devils

Lincolnton hasn't had much luck against Maiden recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wolves will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Lincolnton has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lincolnton fell victim to West Lincoln and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 15-0 to the Rebels. The Wolves' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Meanwhile, Maiden had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three last Thursday. Everything went their way against the Red Devils as they made off with a 16-1 win.

Raegan Rembert made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Savannah Tahsler was excellent, going 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Sydney Sigmon was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.

Maiden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .739. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Maiden's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Lincolnton, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
