Volleyball Recap: O'Neill Eagles vs. Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack
The O'Neill Eagles lost 3-0 to the Elgin/Pope John Wolfpack on Tuesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
While O'Neill had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-21, 25-22.
Bergyn Classen paced O'Neill's offense, picking up ten kills. Classen got some help from Hannah Hilker and her 27 assists. Hilker was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.
Leading Elgin/Pope John to victory were Elizabeth Moser and Gentry Zwingman. Moser had 15 assists and ten digs, while Zwingman had 17 digs. That's the most assists Moser has posted over her last seven matchups.
O'Neill's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Elgin/Pope John, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
