Baseball Game Preview: Boca Ciega Pirates vs. Clearwater Tornadoes

Boca Ciega hasn't had much luck against Clearwater recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Boca Ciega Pirates will be playing at home against the Clearwater Tornadoes at 4:00 p.m.

Boca Ciega is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game dating back to last season on Monday. They fell 5-2 to Pinellas Park.

Evan Hall and Elliot Doughty did some serious damage despite the final result: Hall went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI, while Doughty scored a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Hall has posted since back in April of 2024. Jacob Thompson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Clearwater entered their tilt with Blake on Thursday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went their way against the Yellow Jackets as they made off with a 14-4 victory. With that win, the Tornadoes brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Gerardo Reyes looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Clearwater's victory was truly a team effort as nine different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ty Woodring, who scored four runs and stole Three bases. while going 4-for-5. Another was Landon Kauble, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Clearwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Clearwater's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Boca Ciega, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.
