Basketball Recap: St. Johns Country Day Comes Up Short

St. Johns Country Day extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 2-5. They received a blow as they fell 76-57 to the St. Joseph Academy Flashes. Surprisingly, this marked the Spartans' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

When it comes to explaining why St. Johns Country Day lost, don't look at Erik Williams. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 20 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Williams is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was David Williams, who made all 5 shots he took to post 11 points and five rebounds.

As for St. Joseph Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 50.1 points per game.

St. Joseph Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Zakrocki, who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine boards. Zakrocki continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Wilson Davila also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.
