Basketball Recap: Foyil Takes a Loss

Foyil was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. The game between them and the Copan Hornets didn't end well, with the Foyil Panthers falling 37-20. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hornets earlier this season, when they won 38-33.

Copan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Elyzabeth Odum out in front who posted 18 points and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Odum has scored at least a third of Copan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Woodworth, who earned five points and 15 boards.

Foyil's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Copan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Foyil Panthers take on the Welch Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Copan has already played their next matchup (against Barnsdall), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
