Football Recap: Evan Tellez-Soria and Caden Wise Secure Win for Fullerton + How To Watch

Fullerton extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 7-2. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Sunny Hills Lancers 35-33. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 14-6 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading Fullerton to victory were Caden Wise and Evan Tellez-Soria. Wise gained 51 total yards, while Tellez-Soria rushed for 81 yards and one touchdown. Those 81 rushing yards gave Tellez-Soria a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Fullerton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 170 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Fullerton's defensive line and their three sacks. Nathan Vejar refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

As for Sunny Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. They gained 110 more yards on the day, but it was Fullerton that made the best use of them.

Despite the loss, Sunny Hills still got an impressive performance from George Shelledy, who rushed for 125 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries, and also threw for 67 yards and one touchdown. Mikael Khan was another key player, throwing for 182 yards on 14 of 22 attempts.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fullerton will host Valencia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Sunny Hills, they will be playing at home against Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
