Softball Game Preview: Sumner Tigers vs. Bucksport Golden Bucks

Sumner is 0-10 against Bucksport since May of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Tigers will welcome the Golden Bucks at 4:30 p.m.

Sumner is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Monday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Narraguagus. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since April 17, 2024.

Meanwhile, Bucksport put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Mattanawcook a 4-0 shutout. The four-run effort marked the Golden Bucks' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Not much got past Natalie Simpson, who gave up just a hit and racked up 13 Ks to keep Mattanawcook off the board. Simpson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Jetta Shook was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Bucksport's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Sumner, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
