Softball Recap: Scott County Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Male

Scott County faced Male in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Cardinals fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. That makes it the first time this season the Cardinals have let down their home crowd.

Ada Little spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lauren Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Scott County's defeat dropped their record down to 18-3. As for Male, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-4.

Coming up, Scott County will face off against Tates Creek at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Male, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Anderson County at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bulldogs 3, the Bearcats 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
