Football Recap: Lake Havasu Knights vs. Buckeye Hawks
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lake Havasu). They breezed by the Buckeye Hawks to the tune of 48-16 on Friday. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 25 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Gavin Briggs, who rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 80 receiving yards. He didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made eight total tackles in addition to snagging an interception. Another player making a difference was Eric Nieblas, who threw for 234 yards and a touchdown on only 15 passes.
Lake Havasu was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 284 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
Lake Havasu didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Carter Devett, Briggs, and Kyle Crowe picked up one apiece.
Despite the loss, Buckeye still got an impressive performance from Dayvon Standard, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown. Buckeye also got a significant boost from Ali Mohammadi, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 100 yards.
The win got Lake Havasu back to even at 5-5. As for Buckeye, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.
