Baseball Game Preview: Lake Ridge Eagles vs. Mansfield Tigers

The Lake Ridge Eagles will square off against the Mansfield Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Lake Ridge turned things around against Mansfield on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Tigers 2-1. The game was the first time the Eagles have beaten the Tigers on their field since April 5, 2022.

Lake Ridge got a great performance from Kayden Mansell as he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Lake Ridge is 2-1 when Mansell allowsthree or fewer earned runs, but 1-8-2 otherwise.

At the plate, Lake Ridge saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Willick, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Mansfield is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-4-1. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Lake Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9-2.
