Covington had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Ansonia Tigers on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Buccs, who have now won 12 contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Covington has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Ansonia, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 16-12 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Covington beat the Tigers by a score of 14-3 later that day.
