League recap: Charlo tops Victor to extend winning streak

Western C (8 Man) recap Oct. 3, 2012

Charlo extended the longest winning streak in Western C (8 Man) this week by beating Victor, 52-46. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.

Superior took down Arlee 70-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Billy Smith threw for 153 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 55 yards in the win.

Skyler Lee had a great week catching the football as Seeley-Swan lost to Granite. He caught 14 passes for 280 yards.

Matt Kittel put up the best numbers through the air as the Pirates fell to Charlo. He finished with a total of 45 completions for 463 yards and five touchdowns. Kittel's favorite target this week was Corey Deering, who caught 20 passes for 199 yards.

Webb O'Neill made the biggest impact on defense this week as Mike Krahn's team beat Victor. The 5-foot-11 senior grabbed two interceptions, forced one fumble and recorded one fumble.

Jacen Petersen was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 15 carries, he ran for 232 yards as the Vikings fell to the Prospectors. Tra Ludeman also contributed to the rushing game with 166 yards on the ground.

Brandon Howell's team's Kittel and Kyle Ball have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Kittel has thrown for 1604 yards this season, while Ball has 50 catches for 642 yards. Noxon's Brandon Piazzola leads the league in rushing yards with 870.

The marquee game in Western C (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Charlo and the Bobcats. The Vikings enters the game ranked sixth in the state, while Superior ranks seventh.

There should be lots of points scored when Charlo and Allan Labbe's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Vikings comes in having scored 334 this season, while the Bobcats have scored 324. Charlo scored 52 points last week as it bested the Pirates.

The Vikings and Victor played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Vikings eventually emerging with a 52-46 victory. Petersen caught five passes for 55 yards in the win.
