Baseball Game Preview: Huntley Red Raiders vs. Carmel Corsairs

The Huntley Red Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Carmel Corsairs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, Huntley didn't have quite enough to beat Lake Zurich and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Red Raiders have lost by just one run.

Marist hit Carmel with a four-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Corsairs lost 10-4 to the RedHawks. The Corsairs have struggled against the RedHawks recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

This is the second loss in a row for Huntley and nudges their season record down to 16-14. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Carmel, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-20.

Huntley took their win against Carmel when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
