Football Recap: Upper St. Clair Panthers vs. Woodland Hills Wolverines

Upper St. Clair had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 36-26 victory over the Woodland Hills Wolverines on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Panthers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Wolverines are ranked 73rd).

Dante Coury was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 101 yards and one TD. An impressive showing, but he really ramped things up playing D: he picked up a sack and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Upper St. Clair was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.

Upper St. Clair's record now sits at 10-2. As for Woodland Hills, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-3.

Coming up, Upper St. Clair will take on Peters Township at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Panthers 14.1, the Indians 7) so any points scored will be well earned. Woodland Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
