Softball Recap: Vidor Wins Going Away Against Tarkington

While Vidor put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Tarkington. The Vidor Pirates were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Tarkington Longhorns. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by nine runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Alyssa Korman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she launched this season.

Vidor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tarkington only posted a batting average of .250.

Vidor has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. Tarkington dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Vidor will venture away from home to challenge Bridge City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tarkington, they will be taking part in a tournament against MacArthur at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Tarkington has given up an average of 11.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
