Basketball Recap: Elexa Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sparta over Holmen

Sparta lost against Holmen back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sparta Spartans took a 53-39 bruising from the Holmen Vikings.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Elexa Jones, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 11 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Berendes, who posted eight points.

Sparta's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Holmen, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-6.

Sparta will take on Tomah at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Holmen, they will challenge La Crosse Central at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.
