Foothill has gone a perfect 4-0 against Santa Fe recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Knights will take on the Chiefs in a tournament on Thursday. Foothill will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Foothill's tournament run continued when they took on Los Alamitos on Tuesday. The Knights came out on top in a nail-biter against the Griffins, sneaking past 5-3.
Foothill got a great performance from Grady Wright as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Presley Gaborno was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Evan Kim, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Santa Fe came up short against Loara on Tuesday and fell 6-1. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Santa Fe also got a good showing from Ethan Gonzalez, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
At the plate, Santa Fe saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Oregon, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Santa Fe now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Foothill has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Santa Fe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Foothill came out on top in a nail-biter against Santa Fe in their previous matchup back in February of 2017, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chiefs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
