St. Paul/Palmer is 0-4 against Seward since April of 2021 but things could change on Saturday. St. Paul/Palmer will take on Seward. St. Paul/Palmer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
St. Paul/Palmer took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Adams Central, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. St. Paul/Palmer had just enough and edged out Adams Central 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
The team relied heavily on Braxton Heater, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Mason Hoppes also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Seward didn't have quite enough to beat Wahoo/Bishop Neumann on Thursday and fell 8-6. The Bluejays have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Connor Sveeggen put in work no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Sveeggen was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Brycen Burt was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Even though they lost, Seward hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Seward's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for St. Paul/Palmer, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Paul/Palmer has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Seward struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
St. Paul/Palmer suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Seward in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can St. Paul/Palmer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
