Volleyball Recap: Archbishop Hoban Knights vs. Meadowbrook Colts
The Archbishop Hoban Knights earned a 3-1 win over the Meadowbrook Colts on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Archbishop Hoban walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the third set). The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 18-25, 25-10, 25-22.
Leading Archbishop Hoban to victory were Tess Reeves and Kalie Watson. Reeves had nine digs and two assists, while Watson had seven digs and one assist. Those two assists gave Reeves a new career-high. Madeline Olack also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.
Archbishop Hoban was lethal from the service line and finished the match with ten aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meadowbrook only served five.
Meadowbrook's loss came despite strong showings from Journey Nicola and Kara Launder. Nicola had 19 digs and two assists, while Launder had 11 digs and two assists. Nicola has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played.
Archbishop Hoban's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Meadowbrook, their defeat ended a ten-match streak of away wins and brought them to 15-2.
Archbishop Hoban and Meadowbrook should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Knights (ranked fifth) will meet Brunswick (ranked 270th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Meadowbrook will take on Maysville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (47 vs. 707).
