Volleyball Recap: Decatur Central Hawks vs. Martinsville Artesians
The Decatur Central Hawks came up short against the Martinsville Artesians on Thursday and fell 3-1. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Decatur Central couldn't get the W, but boy did they fight for it: two sets took extra rallies. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-27, 26-24, 25-10.

Despite the loss, Decatur Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Esteban Martinez had 21 digs and two assists. Those 21 digs set a new season-high mark for Martinez. Tait Owens also deserves some recognition as he had his first kills of the season.
Martinsville can attribute much of their success to Garrett Gardner, who had 16 assists and two aces.
Decatur Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Martinsville, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Looking ahead, Decatur Central will challenge Pike at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Martinsville, they will square off against Lawrence North at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
