Basketball Game Preview: Mitchell Tigers vs. Chadron Cardinals

The Mitchell Tigers just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Chadron Cardinals at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Mitchell is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Gordon-Rushville, posting a 75-31 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Meanwhile, the third road match was the charm for Chadron, as they earned their first road win of the season. They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 66-39 win over Hot Springs. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cardinals as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Mitchell is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.5 points per game. As for Chadron, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-6.

Mitchell might still be hurting after the 47-27 defeat they got from Chadron in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Mitchell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
