Baseball Preview: Mooresville Pioneers vs. Decatur Central Hawks        
        
		
            
 Mooresville is 9-1 against Decatur Central since April of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Wednesday. The Mooresville Pioneers will head out on the road to  face off against  the Decatur Central Hawks at 5:30  p.m. Mooresville is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
 Last Saturday, Mooresville beat Zionsville 7-2.
  Hogan Denny was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   four  hits (he also only allowed one  walk). Denny was even better at the plate,  scoring a  run and  stealing three bases while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 In other pitching news,  Hudson DeVaughan looked comfortable as he  didn't allow a single  earned run over four innings pitched.
 Denny wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Levi Dorn, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile, Decatur Central came up short against Perry Meridian on Saturday and fell  7-2. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest  runs Decatur Central has scored all season.
 Decatur Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Zach Losito, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 1-for-3. Losito is on a roll when it comes to  stolen bases, as he's  now  stolen  at least one in the last four games he's  played.
 Even though they lost, Decatur Central  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 17  strikeouts. That's the most  strikeouts they've managed all season.
 The  victory  got Mooresville back to even at 2-2. As for Decatur Central,  this is  the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 3-2.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Wednesday as both teams have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mooresville has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 9.2  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Decatur Central struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 8.4. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
 Mooresville took their  win against Decatur Central  when the teams last played  back in April of 2023 by a conclusive  12-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mooresville since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
