Softball Recap: Stuarts Draft Cougars vs. Riverheads Gladiators

Stuarts Draft made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Riverheads, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Gladiators a 9-0 shutout on Thursday. Karlee Layne was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Madison Mason and Maddy Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Mason went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI, while Miller scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
