Greensburg came out on top against Connersville on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Pirates took their contest against the Spartans 8-4. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won four in a row.

Luke Hoeing spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Meyer, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Greensburg's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Connersville, they dropped their record down to 11-14 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Greensburg is taking a road trip to square off against Batesville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Connersville will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' matchup: after the Pirates face off against the Bulldogs, they'll take on Connersville again at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
