Basketball Recap: Aquinas Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

If Woodcrest Christian wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Aquinas, they should've done a better job of containing Malachi Jones. The Aquinas Falcons enjoyed a cozy 59-40 win over the Woodcrest Christian Royals on Tuesday thanks in part to Jones, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. He is becoming a predictor of Aquinas' success: when he posts at least eight rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 6-10 when he doesn't).

The team also got some help courtesy of Vincent Warsaw, who posted eight points and three steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played.

Several Royals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaac Lytle, who earned 14 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Michael Carlson, who had 15 points.

Aquinas' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11. As for Woodcrest Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Aquinas wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-38 loss against Fairmont Prep on the 9th. As for Woodcrest Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 75-52 defeat against Ontario Christian on the 10th.
