Softball Recap: Southwest Dekalb Wins Going Away Against Clarkston

While Southwest DeKalb put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Clarkston. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 22-0 margin over the Angoras. The match marked the Panthers' most dominant win of the season so far.

Jasmin Josey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Nyla Denbow and Makayla Dixon did most of the damage at the plate: Denbow went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs, while Dixon went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That home run was Denbow's first of the season. Nyla Blair was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Southwest DeKalb always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of 1.000. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory was the third in a row for Southwest DeKalb, bringing their record up to 3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest DeKalb will head out to face off against Chamblee at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Clarkston, they will venture away from home to square off against Marist at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
