West Brook came up short against Port Neches-Groves on Tuesday, falling 14-4. The loss continues a trend for the Bruins in their meetings with the Indians: they've now lost four in a row.
Kya Hadnot (2025) was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kehaira Haines (2025), who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Nederland got the win against Lee on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by nine runs or more this season.
Grace Seigrist and Kaylee Baker made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Seigrist pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Baker tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Seigrist has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Seigrist went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double, while Baker went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, Addison Gillard was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Livingston, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Nederland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
West Brook's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Nederland, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
West Brook was able to grind out a solid victory over Nederland in their previous meeting back in March, winning 14-11. Do the Bruins have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
