Basketball Recap: Burwell Longhorns vs. Arcadia/Loup City Rebels

Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 11 to 4 on the offensive boards, a fact the Burwell Longhorns proved on Friday. They walked away with a 32-21 win over Arcadia/Loup City. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Burwell.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Burwell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaitlyn Simpson, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Hughes, who scored three points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, Arcadia/Loup City still got an impressive performance from Eva Jaixen, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Jaixen is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Arcadia/Loup City struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are winless (0-3) when they can't control their own glass like that.

Burwell's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Arcadia/Loup City, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Burwell will take on the Wolves at TBD on Tuesday. Twin Loup is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. As for Arcadia/Loup City, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Gibbon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday.
