Baseball Preview: Hughson Huskies vs. Sonora Wildcats
For the second straight game, Hughson will face off against Sonora. The Huskies will challenge the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hughson has nine straight wins, Sonora has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Hughson made easy work of Sonora and carried off a 17-1 victory. Considering the Huskies have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Max Mankins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Beau Blake was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Andrew Fisher, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Hughson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Hughson pushed their record up to 15-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Sonora, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-12.
