Softball Recap: Alton Comes Up Short

Alton came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Belleville East Lancers, falling 12-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in April.

Lilly Henkhaus made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Alton has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 15 of their last 19 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-24 record this season. As for Belleville East, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-7 record this season.

Alton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-2 loss against Red Bud on the 13th. As for Belleville East, they have also already played their next game, a 15-0 win against East St. Louis on the 14th.
