Baseball Recap: Red River Bulldogs vs. Many Tigers
Red River lost against Many back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Red River Bulldogs fell 9-6 to the Many Tigers. It was the first time this season that Red River let down their fans at home.
Tyler Hughes was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out nine batters over 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Hughes was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Chris Carper made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI, a triple, and a run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Williamson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
On Many's side, Tuffy Cutrer looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Cutrer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances.
At the plate, Trevor McLendon was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, a triple, and a stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Payton Hyden, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Red River's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-6. As for Many, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red River will face off against Haughton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
