Volleyball Recap: Champion Golden Flashes vs. Garfield G-Men
Champion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Garfield G-Men, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the G-Men this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in August.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-9, 25-8.
Kennedy McKee paced Champion's offense, picking up five kills. McKee got some help from Zoe Patelle and her nine assists. Tara Johnson controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Lily Shay was the offensive standout of the game as she had 11 digs and three aces. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last five times she's played. Olivia Kuchenbecker also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Champion's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Garfield, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.
Looking ahead, Champion will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against LaBrae at 5:30 p.m. As for Garfield, they have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Conneaut on the 20th.
