Baseball Preview: McLaurin Tigers vs. Raymond Rangers
The McLaurin Tigers will head out to face off against the Raymond Rangers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
McLaurin can't be to happy about their upcoming road contest considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Friday. They fell 10-7 to Choctaw Central.
McLaurin saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Johnson, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Johnson has posted since back in February of 2024. Another was Jamari Horton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Raymond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 15-13 heartbreaker at the hands of Vicksburg.
McLaurin took their win against Raymond in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for McLaurin since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
