Baseball Game Preview: Bassett Olympians vs. Pomona Red Devils

For the second straight game, Bassett will face off against Pomona. The Olympians will head out to take on the Red Devils at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Bassett is looking for their season's first victory.

Bassett came up short against Pomona on Tuesday, falling 18-3.

For Pomona's part, they got a great performance from Emmanuel Campos as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Campos has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ivan Lopez and Noah Zayas did most of the damage at the plate: Lopez got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Zayas went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Lopez has posted since back in March of 2024. Michael Huguez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Bassett's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Pomona, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-6.
